St Andrew's New Children's Service
-
In the light of feedback received and the need to cater for the growing number of young families with whom we have contact, and after a successful experimental period, the PCC had decided that a children's service at 9:15am on third Sundays. should become a regular feature of our worship. The 11:00am informal Eucharist will continue to be led by the music group.
We apologise to the people who are disappointed at losing the Said Eucharist at 9:15am on third Sundays but hope they will find satisfaction in the quiet reflective evening Eucharist on Tuesdays. Transport to this service can be arranged.

‘A Touch of Spain’ on Saturday 17th July. It is ‘donation on the night’ so everyone is welcome. Josie is asking for help with food preparation and decorating the Ark. If you would like to help in any way please let Karen or Josie know. Karen intends to be at the hall during the afternoon on the Saturday setting up and also cooking. There will be a need for someone to serve Sangria or orange. See what Josie has to say below:
- Hi everyone, this is a plea for help with food for the Spanish evening!
I have come back from my cousin's in Portugal with, some Spanish cheese, some Protuguese chorizo and some prosunto (like Spanish jamon serrano). These will stretch a lot further if they can be cut up and placed on little rounds of buttered French bread and decorated with a bit of tomato, cucumber or pepper. Would any of you be able to do this preparation for me? I can bring the stuff to church on Sunday or round to your house in the week. I myself will not have time to do this as I intend to cook a couple of Spanish tortillas and will also be busy on the night setting up the projector, screen and computer.
Any thing else that people can make would be very welcome. I understand that we are going for finger food or food that is easily picked up with a toothpick. I believe that Alison has some good tapas recipes as she has done a tapas evening before. (Perhaps Alison you might be able to circulate some of them?)
Some more possible ideas -- meatballs in tomato sauce, (there is a hob and oven ) (with bread for dipping in the sauce) I can lend twleve tapas dishes for dishing these up perhaps one or two per table.Battered calamares (can be bought frozen)Olives, Antipasta or home roasted chunky mediterranean veg tossed in olive oil and white wine vinegar ( or balsamic) served cold.Marinated anchovies ( tesco has them)Nuts. crips, breadsticks, dips?
Finally would someone be able to help with decorating? I have a number of Spanish theme tea-towels, headscarves, shawls and fans that I can bring along to make the whole Ark look festive, but they will need to be fixed up!
Thank you all for your help and encouragement.
Josie
If you can't help please come along and get a feel for Spain.
