Dear Members and Friends of Koinonia

The 2011-12 programme is underway with an unforgettable AGM with Belly Dancers. Our recent visit to Stansted House for an Edwardian musical evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all who went. It was so good to spend an evening in a completely different environment, with some wonderful nibbles and wine during the interval.

The visit from the RNLI this month gave the marvellous history of the Lifeboats on Hayling, Nigel Roper told us of the fortunate choice of Betty Battle looking South and spending her money where it was so well deserved, giving the RNLI such gifts that her legacy of Lifeboats lives on in the Island.

In June, we had a rare treat a member of The Dickens Fellowship gave us some beautiful readings in character. The following day a group visited the Portsmouth home of Dickens, then had lunch out and went on to visit the Guildhall to see all the historic regalia and papers. Portsmouth Guildhall has been guardian of these for hundreds of years the oldest was 14th Century, they survived the war time bombing and are much prized possesions of the city.

5th July we are again very fortunate to have a speaker who has created gardens for the great Hampton Court Flower Show, she will speak on July 12th outing follows with a visit to Hampton Court. This will be a coach outing so sign up as soon as possible once at Hampton Court.
As well as a tour of the Court you will be able to visit whichever you wish of the following at an extra cost:

Meeting up for the coach home.

The first ANNUAL BBQ – This will now take place on July 30th.

In September we return to the school venue for a visit from Canine Partners. I can only commend this event to you this charity works to give the disabled wonderful Companions, trained to make life easier for their owners, opening doors, washing machines, dressing, undressing so many brilliant ways. We will meet one of these great dogs and it’s owner.
