Our sister church, St John the Divine, Nuaso, Ghana.
Following the visit by two members of our congregation in May 2003, St Peter’s congregation undertook to set up and support a kindergarten for children at Sarpor, a remote outstation of St John the Divine. Until now there has been no educational provision for the children there, but the villagers are building a centre.
With our initial grant, two teachers and helpers were recruited. Further funds bought chairs, tables and books. A Mission House has also been built with funds from St Peter’s, at Nuaso, for the priest. The Revd Richardson Aburam wrote in January 2004 expressing the thanks of his congregation for the help sent.
In May 2004 a second visit will take place to Nuaso, and another is planned in May 2005. The wonderful Christian spirit at Nuaso was almost overwhelming, and certainly made our staid worship seem very pedestrian in contrast.
